The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) launched a bold manifesto for the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation ahead of local body elections. BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar released the promises on Sunday. The manifesto pledges an Olympic venue for the city and assures that all Union government-funded projects will benefit the capital city 100%. After four decades under the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), BJP aims to grab power with a plan to develop the city comprehensively within 45 days of taking charge. The vision is to make Thiruvananthapuram one of India's top three cities by 2030. Promises include corruption-free governance using technology such as Artificial Intelligence. The manifesto also targets transforming Thiruvananthapuram into a major port city. Housing will be arranged for all homeless families with central support. Maintenance of dilapidated houses will begin within 15 days of assuming office. The plan highlights cleaning key water bodies like Karamana River, Kill River, Amayizhanjan Canal, and Parvathy Puthanar, inspired by the Ganga cleaning mission. Coastal erosion will be tackled through special initiatives. The manifesto assures all city streetlights will function via a centralised system. Tourism projects will focus on pilgrimage hotspots such as Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Attukal temple, Beemapally, and Vettukad Church. Additionally, the Jan Oushadi medical stores network will expand to provide affordable medicines. All financial dealings between citizens and the Corporation will shift to a digital platform with doorstep services. Leaders including the Mayor and councillors will conduct ward visits for direct public engagement. The Corporation will publish annual performance reports, the manifesto states.
