BJP Chief Calls Rahul Mamkootathil Case a Drama to Distract from Sabarimala Theft
December 1, 2025
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar spoke out on Monday about the controversy surrounding Rahul Mamkootathil, an MLA. He said this issue is being used now to hide theft and problems linked to Sabarimala. Mr. Chandrasekhar claimed, “He is an MLA foisted on Palakkad’s voters, and the Congress brought him here knowing he was not a good person.” He called the case against Mamkootathil a “CPI(M)-orchestrated drama.” He added that the government could have acted months ago but chose to revive the matter now to divert focus from the Sabarimala scandal. Mr. Chandrasekhar also talked about the Enforcement Directorate (ED) ongoing investigations targeting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He rejected suggestions that the ED’s work is politically motivated and branded such views as “stupid.” The BJP leader’s comments came against the backdrop of growing political tensions in Kerala. The situation continues to develop as the ED probes high-profile cases.
