Hyderabad City Police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against six men involved in the daylight killing of CPI State Council member and tribal leader Kethavath Chandu Rathod. Rathod was killed on July 15, 2025, at Shalivahana Nagar GHMC Park in Malakpet. The accused are Donthi Rajesh (48), Kumba Yedukondalu (35), Atmakuri Srinu (45), Kandukuri Prashanth (30), Arjun Gnana Prakash (26), and Lingibedi Rambabu (30).
The Preventive Detention orders were issued by Commissioner of Police V. C. Sajjanar and carried out by Malakpet ACP K. Subbarami Reddy under South East Zone DCP S. Chaitanya Kumar's supervision with support from Malakpet police.
In a second case, the PD Act was invoked against Syed Abdul Basith (23), a repeat sexual offender involved in multiple assaults on minors in Madannapet and Dabeerpura over the past year. This order was also issued by the Commissioner and executed by the South East Zone team with Dabeerpura Police help.
Police said both steps show their strong focus on stopping habitual and violent offenders who threaten public safety, especially minors.
