UnboxingBLR (UBLR), a civic and cultural platform in Bengaluru, announced three big plans to boost the city's culture, technology, and climate innovation. First, the BLR Hubba 2026 festival will run from January 16 to 25. It promises over 250 performances in 12+ genres, with guests from Japan, Malaysia, and a special appearance by guitar legend Marty Friedman. "The BLR Hubba 2026 is our promise to bring the city alive through its public spaces. We are moving beyond a curated arts festival to a true public celebration," said V. Ravichandar, chief facilitator. Second, UBLR revealed plans for India's first startup and tech museum. It will be set on the former NGEF campus and built with the Department of Electronics, IT/BT. "It will be an inspiration, connecting our rich past with a future of limitless possibilities," said co-founder Prashanth Prakash. This museum will showcase Bengaluru’s growth as India’s technology capital. Third, the Namma Bengaluru Challenge returns in 2026 focusing on climate solutions. It will award ₹25 lakh each to five startups tackling urban problems like air pollution, waste, water, and sanitation. Over 600 applications are expected. UBLR also shared progress on other city projects such as Church Street upkeep, the upcoming Nandi Rail Museum, a new communities platform, 1,000 garbage kiosks, and the Hasiru Junction micro-green project. These initiatives aim to enrich Bengaluru’s cultural and environmental landscape.
