Bengaluru and its surrounding areas, which saw cooler weather in recent days because of Cyclone Ditwah, will experience warmer and sunnier conditions on Tuesday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist C.S. Patil said, “The temperature is likely to go up on Tuesday.” Early morning mist is expected, followed by partly cloudy skies with sunshine during the day. Mr. Patil added, “The temperature during the day is likely to increase and it will come down at night.” The maximum temperature is forecast to reach 25 to 26 degrees Celsius. On Monday, Bengaluru recorded a maximum of 23.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18.2 degrees Celsius. Some light rainfall was noted at HAL airport and Kempegowda International Airport. Mr. Patil explained that the recent cool weather was caused by Cyclone Ditwah, which has now weakened to a deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal. “Though the peak winter conditions usually set in Bengaluru in the last week of December and remain till the end of January,” he said. Looking ahead, temperatures in Bengaluru are expected to drop to 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in the last week of December and first week of January. In many north-interior Karnataka districts like Bidar, Gulbarga, Belagavi, and Bijapur, minimum temperatures may fall below 10 degrees Celsius during that time.
