School Bus Burned After Driver and Cleaner Clash in Prakasam District
December 2, 2025
A school bus was burned in a fire early Tuesday morning in Papinenipalli village, Prakasam district, following an argument between the bus driver and a cleaner. The fire broke out around 7 a.m. when no students were inside, so no one was hurt in the blaze. Police said Nabi, the 60-year-old driver, called Rajagopal, a cleaner of another bus, to the parking area citing a bus starting problem. This led to a heated argument. Rajagopal had earlier complained that Nabi was driving poorly due to vision problems and was illegally selling diesel from the bus. The reason behind the fire remains unconfirmed by police. Nabi suffered burn injuries on his back and was first treated at a Primary Health Centre in Ardhaveedu, then moved to Markapuram's Community Health Centre for better care. Locals helped extinguish the fire later, but no one saw the fight firsthand. The investigation is ongoing.
