December 2, 2025
The tenth annual Salakatla Brahmotsavams of Sri Venkateswara Swamy and Goddess Bhoodevi began on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Dokiparru Mahakshetram in Krishna district. The event started on the holy day of Margasira Dwadasi and follows the Vishvavasu Nama Samvatsaram calendar.
The day's key rituals included Snapan Tirumanjanam, Senadhipati Utsavam, Ankuraropana, Tiruchi Vahana Seva, and Pallaki Seva. These drew large numbers of devotees and local residents.
Chief priest Acharya Sridhar said the Brahmotsavams are celebrated with the same devotion and traditional customs as in Tirumala. Abhishekam was performed for the Utsava Murthis. Temple representatives visited the Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple to collect sacred soil for the Ankuraropana ritual. "Navadhanyas" seeds were sown in twelve sacred pits, praying for agricultural abundance and community welfare.
On Wednesday, December 3, grand celebrations continue with the Suryaprabha Vahana Seva, following the Dwajarohanam ceremony. Other events planned include Shesha Vahanotsavam, Hamsa Vahanam, Oonjal Seva, and Ekanta Seva.
The Brahmotsavams opened under the guidance of founding trustees P.V. Krishna Reddy and Sudha, with the organising committee members Komma Reddy Bapireddy, Vijaya Bhaskaramma, P. Nagireddy, Prasanna, P.V. Subba Reddy, and Sumalatha. Vedic scholars performed a special Snapan Tirumanjanam to the Utsava Murthis and explained the spiritual importance of the festival.
The festivities will continue until December 5. Every day will feature Homas, Utsavams, Oonjal Seva, and various Vahana Sevas. Vedic scholars stated that according to Vaikhanasa and Agama Shastras, performing Archana and Kainkarya at this temple brings divine blessings to the State and community.
