A 50-year-old head constable named Lakshman was found dead in Shettihalli lake on Tuesday morning. Lakshman was attached to the Channapatna traffic station and was heading for his night shift. He left home around 7.30 p.m. on his two-wheeler. While riding near the lake, police suspect he lost control, hit the bridge railing, and slipped into the water. His family grew worried as his phone was switched off and he did not return home. Early Tuesday, passers-by spotted the bike next to the lake and informed the police. Authorities recovered Lakshman's body and took it to the hospital for a post-mortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
