Strict Security and Smart Plans for Vaikunta Ekadasi Festival at Srirangam Temple

Collector V. Saravanan held a meeting on Tuesday with officials from all government departments to plan for the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival at the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. The festival runs from December 19 to January 9. He asked the police to set up strict security and manage traffic carefully for the many devotees expected. The temple area and surroundings must be kept clean. Uninterrupted drinking water supply is a must. Saravanan said many devotees will gather especially on December 30, when the Paramapada Vasal opens. "All necessary arrangements would be in place to ensure smooth crowd management," he said. Additional lighting will be installed at Amma Mandapam and Kollidam bathing ghats. Mobile toilets and temporary urinals will be available at various spots. Fire tenders will be stationed at key points, and medical teams will be ready in the temple precincts to provide free medical help. The Collector added, "Uninterrupted power supply would be ensured during the entire festival period." Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. staff will be on hand to fix any electrical issues promptly. He also ordered the removal of encroachments and the operation of special buses to support the festival. He announced that important trains would stop briefly at Srirangam Railway Station for three days starting December 29 to help pilgrims. Key officials like Tiruchi Commissioner of Police Kamini, District Revenue Officer R. Balaji, and Srirangam temple Joint Commissioner S. Sivaram Kumar attended the meeting.
