AILRSA Holds 48-Hour Hunger Strike Demanding Rest and Safety for Loco Staff
December 2, 2025
Members of the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) began a 48-hour hunger strike on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. They demand sufficient rest and better safety for passengers.
AILRSA divisional president M. Venkatesham and secretary R.V. Ramu said their strike follows a nationwide call by the association. They want better rest periods for loco running staff.
The association's divisional vice-president B.C.S. Rao urged the Ministry of Railways to stop back-to-back continuous duties for loco pilots. He said this practice harms the health of staff.
"As the railway management is not giving sufficient periodic and outstation rest for loco running staff, there is no safety for the passengers," the leaders said.
The hunger strike aims to push authorities to act fast and protect both staff and travelers on Indian trains.
