Ahead of New Year celebrations, Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) anti-narcotics wing seized 10.36 kg of MDMA crystals and 8 kg of hydro ganja valued at ₹28.75 crore in separate raids. Two foreign nationals were arrested. On a tip-off, CCB raided a house in Sampigehalli’s P&T Layout. They arrested 25-year-old Nancy Omary Lawa from Tanzania for allegedly stocking MDMA to sell during the festive season. Officials seized 9.254 kg of MDMA crystals worth ₹18.5 crore along with a mobile phone and other evidence. Nancy arrived in Delhi on a tourist visa in 2023, later moved to Bengaluru, and worked as a hairstylist. She sourced MDMA from Delhi and other places and sold it at higher rates to known buyers in Bengaluru. She was booked under the NDPS Act. In another raid near Lalbagh’s South Gate basketball court, CCB arrested 28-year-old Nigerian Emmanuel Arinze while he was selling drugs. Officers seized 1.115 kg of MDMA crystals worth ₹2.25 crore. Emmanuel came to India in 2021 on a business visa. He was arrested in February 2024 under the NDPS Act but resumed drug peddling after his April 2025 release. He sourced MDMA from Delhi, Goa, and foreign dealers. Police are searching for his accomplice, also a foreigner. In a third operation triggered by Customs, CCB seized 8 kg of hydro ganja worth ₹8 crore hidden inside tea bags in parcels at the Foreign Post Office, Chamarajpet. The drugs were shipped from abroad for delivery in Bengaluru. A case is registered and investigations continue. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh praised the CCB team’s work and announced a ₹50,000 cash prize for their effort.
