Three Bomb Threat Emails Shake Hyderabad Airport, One Flight Returns to Kuwait
December 6, 2025
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) faced three bomb threat emails targeting international flights within 12 hours. The first warning came on December 5, 2025, for Air India flight AI 2879 from Delhi. The flight landed safely at 8:45 p.m. after checks found no threat.
The second threat targeted British Airways flight BA 277 from Heathrow on December 6, 2025. The plane landed at 5:25 a.m. Bomb disposal teams checked the aircraft and called the threat a hoax.
The third warning was for Kuwait Airways flight KU 373. Instead of landing, the flight returned to Kuwait as a precaution.
Due to these threats, security at RGIA has been stepped up. There is more surveillance, extra scanning of incoming flights, and closer cooperation with CISF and local police.
The police have started an investigation after a complaint from airport authorities. An RGIA police official said, "The anonymously sent emails are routed through a VPN, making them hard to trace. Senders are using other mailing services except Gmail."
These incidents add to a tense week in Hyderabad’s skies. On December 5, an Emirates flight from Dubai also got a bomb threat email but landed safely after checks. Two IndiGo flights were diverted earlier in the week after similar messages.
Security teams remain alert as the probe continues.
