Western Railway and East Coast Railway have introduced special trains to provide relief amid IndiGo flight disruptions across India. Western Railway will run seven special trains covering important routes like Mumbai Central to New Delhi, Bhiwani, Shakur Basti, and more. These trains will operate multiple trips with superfast and special fares. Western Railway’s special trains include: - Mumbai Central – New Delhi Superfast (2 trips) - Mumbai Central – Bhiwani Superfast (14 trips, bi-weekly) - Mumbai Central – Shakur Basti Superfast (4 trips) - Bandra Terminus – Durgapura Superfast (2 trips) - Valsad – Bilaspur Special (8 trips, weekly) - Sabarmati – Delhi Superfast (4 trips) - Sabarmati – Delhi Sarai Rohilla Special (1 trip) East Coast Railway will also run special trains to clear the backlog of stranded passengers toward Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, and Howrah. These include trips between Bhubaneswar (BBS), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Puri, Anand Vihar Terminal (ANVT), Visakhapatnam (VSKP), and Santragachi (SMVB) on specified dates in early December 2025. Furthermore, Indian Railways has added extra coaches to some trains to meet the growing demand for air-conditioned travel. These augmentations include 1st AC and 3rd AC coaches on Tejas Rajdhani trains between Bhubaneswar and New Delhi and additional AC Economic class coaches on Garib Rath trains running to Shalimar, Puri, and other destinations. This move aims to manage the passenger rush and ease travel during the ongoing air disruptions.
