On Saturday, Telangana Excise and Prohibition officials conducted coordinated raids across Hyderabad. Eight people were arrested and about 16 kg of ganja along with 39 bottles of non-duty paid liquor were seized. The biggest haul occurred near Cherlapally railway station where 11 kg of ganja worth ₹5.5 lakh was seized. Pushpala Varun from Mallapur was caught after bringing the drug from Odisha’s Rayagada district by train. The ganja was sent to the Ghatkesar excise station for investigation. In another bust, the STF B team arrested Suraj and Rupa, a couple from Malkangiri district of Odisha, carrying 3 kg of ganja. The drugs were intended for delivery in Hyderabad. Officials intercepted their bus at LB Nagar junction and transferred the seized ganja to the Saroornagar excise station. The STF D team raided a boys’ hostel in Addagutta, KPHB, seizing 423 grams of ganja from Medari Arun Kumar of Zaheerabad. Another accused named Santosh is still absconding. The drugs were handed over to the Kukatpally excise station. At Manguru Basti near Nampally railway station in Mallepally, the STF-A team caught four people – C. Mangaraj, Saddam Khan, K. Radha, and L. Aarti – and seized 1.5 kg of ganja, three mobiles, and an auto-rickshaw. Four others, including Mohammed Rizwan and Heena Begum, remain on the run. The materials were sent to the Nampally excise station. Additionally, the STF-A team seized 38 bottles of non-duty paid liquor brought into Hyderabad on flights from Goa and Delhi. These were caught near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, and handed to the Meerpet excise station.
