Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar announced on Saturday that a special Home Guard Co-operative Society will soon be created under city police to support Home Guards' welfare. He made this statement during the Home Guards Raising Day celebrations at the CAR Headquarters in Petlaburj. Commissioner Sajjanar inspected the parade, received the guard of honour, and addressed Home Guards, senior officers, and staff. Currently, about 5,000 Home Guards serve in Hyderabad. Around 2,000 have already joined the proposed society, and he encouraged others to enroll. He also said the government is considering giving double bedroom houses to eligible Home Guards. Sajjanar instructed all personnel to renew their driving licences promptly to avoid insurance problems after accidents. Warning stern action, he said, "strict legal action would follow in cases of negligence, corruption or any illegal activity," and urged Home Guards to maintain discipline. Certificates were handed to personnel who excelled in the parade and on duty. Families of 18 Home Guards who died while on duty or otherwise received ex gratia cheques. DCP CAR Headquarters Rakshita Krishnamurthy, Home Guards Commandant N.V. Kishan Rao, and other senior officers attended the event.
