Full VAT on Meat Could Cut EU Environmental Damage by Up to 6%, Study Finds
A new study reveals that applying full VAT on beef, pork, lamb, and chicken in the EU could reduce environmental harm by 3-6%. This could cost households as little as €26 a year if tax revenues are shared back. Meat has the biggest share of ecological damage in diets, yet most EU countries tax it less than other goods.
