Momo-eating Challenge Turns Fatal: 25-Year-Old Man Dies After Eating 150 Momos

Food challenges are fun, but sometimes they can turn dangerous. In a recent incident in Siwan district of Bihar, India, a 25-year-old man lost his life after participating in a momo-eating food challenge. The challenge involved eating the maximum number of momos and had a bet of Rs 1,000. The man, identified as Vipin Kumar, consumed a staggering 150 momos during the challenge. However, tragedy struck as he slumped to the ground unconscious after eating the last momo. His friends initially thought he was faking it, but soon realized that something was seriously wrong. They rushed him to a private hospital, but he was declared brought dead.

According to the police, Vipin Kumar accepted the challenge from his friends and ate a large number of momos. His friends then took him to a private hospital when he started feeling unwell. The doctors, unfortunately, couldn’t save him. The family of the deceased has alleged foul play, claiming that Vipin’s friends poisoned him and then abandoned him near the hospital without informing the family of his condition or demise. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death.

This is not the first such incident related to momos. In June 2022, a 50-year-old man also lost his life due to choking on momos. Following that incident, the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) issued an advisory urging people to chew the popular snack well and swallow carefully. The tragic incidents serve as a reminder that food challenges should always prioritize safety and moderation to avoid such unfortunate accidents.
