British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reassured India that no form of extremism is acceptable and that the right to hold lawful protest does not include violent or threatening behavior. In an exclusive interview, Sunak acknowledged the duty of the UK government to disrupt and counter violent and divisive ideologies. He stated that the UK is working closely with its partners in the Indian government to tackle the threat from pro-Khalistan extremism. Sunak’s comments came ahead of his visit to India for the G20 summit. He emphasized that the UK and India are jointly addressing the issue of extremism and corruption. The relationship between India and the UK was elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership earlier this year.
