Get ready for a fresh dose of talent! Sonia Birje, daughter of the famous 'Adventures of Tarzan' star Hemant Birje, has dazzled audiences in Hindi and Telugu films and is now lighting up Kannada cinema with her debut in the movie Psyche. Recently, she shot a special dance number in Mysore under the direction of Mahesh Devu, and she’s loving every moment. Sonia shares, “The choreography team and dancers were so supportive. I’m not familiar with the language, but they made me feel at home.” How sweet is that? Even though her full role appears only in Psyche’s second part, this superstar in the making is already learning Kannada! She hopes to dub her own lines because, as she says, “An actor’s voice is important. I’d love to deliver my dialogues in my voice for the second part.” What makes the South cinema so special to Sonia? Simple! “South industries, both Telugu and Kannada, are more emotion-driven—that’s their biggest strength. In Bollywood, some stories lean more on style. Here, it’s emotion that carries the content,” she reveals. But the road hasn’t been just smooth dancing and warm welcomes. Sonia boldly puts the spotlight on a hot topic—nepotism. “There was no nepotism in my case; nothing was handed over to me. I’ve worked hard for every single opportunity. Some projects didn’t release, which was heartbreaking, but my Telugu films happened purely on merit. People respect me because of my father, but it hasn’t translated into jobs—otherwise, I’d have done many more films by now,” she states with pride. Facing the tough film industry, Sonia admits, “Even if you deserve a role, you might not get called. The camps people talk about are real, and breaking into them is difficult. Deserving talent often doesn’t even get to audition.” But she keeps her chin up! “When preparation meets opportunity, magic happens. Luck plays a role too — sometimes it’s written for you, sometimes it’s not. But you must keep honing your craft and keep showing up,” she says with a fiery spirit. Sonia Birje’s journey is like a colorful dance—full of hard work, heartfelt emotion, and fierce determination. Watch out, Kannada cinema, here comes a star who’s not just riding on her father’s fame but carving her own sparkling path!
