The Seshadripuram police arrested 31-year-old Nagappa Poojari on Sunday for allegedly stabbing 23-year-old Sharanamma to death at a construction site on Saturday. The clash followed a trivial family row. Poojari, a daily-wage labourer living near Electronics City, was angry after Sharanamma refused to reveal where her married sister was. He is believed to have had a relationship with that sister, who had broken up with him and sought help from Sharanamma. Police said Poojari was intoxicated when he went to the under-construction building where Sharanamma lived with her husband, a security guard. He took a large kitchen knife and stabbed her multiple times in the chest. Sharanamma died on the spot. The couple, originally from Indi in Vijayapura district, had lived at the site for a year. The deceased had sent her sister to a relative’s house to protect her from Poojari, who came searching for her. A murder case was registered, and police tracked down Poojari shortly after the attack. He is in custody as police continue their investigation.
