Solar Eclipse 2024, also known as Surya Grahan, is set to occur on April 8, 2024. While it won’t be visible in India, this celestial event holds great significance. The Sun, being the ultimate source of power and energy, influences various aspects of our lives. During the Solar Eclipse, certain rituals and practices can be followed to maintain our energy levels and strengthen our connection with the Sun.

One of the most common practices during Surya Grahan is meditation. Engaging in meditation during this time can help us feel relaxed, calm, and protected from any negative effects of the event. Chanting the sacred sound “Om” can enhance the experience of meditation.

Reading holy books during this period is considered auspicious. Immersing ourselves in religious activities and spending the entire Surya Grahan period reading scriptures like the Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, Shiva Puran, and Bhagavad Puran can help us connect with our spiritual side.

Before starting the Solar Eclipse, it is important to cleanse ourselves physically and mentally. Taking a bath, wearing clean clothes, and cleaning the area where we plan to meditate or practice yoga are essential steps. Lighting incense sticks and performing dhyan yoga can create a positive environment.

For those unable to take a holy bath in the Ganga river, using Ganga Jal by mixing a few drops with normal water can be an alternative. Salt water can also be used for bathing after the Surya Grahan ends, as it is believed to remove negative energy and promote positivity.

According to traditional beliefs, sleeping during the Solar Eclipse is considered inauspicious. It is advisable to avoid sleeping during Surya Grahan to maintain positive energy.

Mantra chanting plays a significant role during Surya Grahan as it acts as a shield against negative energies. Negativity arises when the Sun is under the influence of Rahu, causing it to weaken and frustrate. Chanting various mantras can help calm and appease Lord Surya.

The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, dedicated to Lord Shiva, can protect us from the adverse effects of the Solar Eclipse and seek the blessings of the supreme God. The Aditya Hridya Stotram, a prayer dedicated to Lord Surya, is another powerful mantra to alleviate the negative effects of Surya Grahan. The Gayatri Mantra, known for its potency, should be chanted by those following a sattvic lifestyle, while the Surya Gayatri Mantra can be chanted by anyone seeking protection from the bad effects of the Solar Eclipse.

By following these rituals and practices, we can make the best use of the Solar Eclipse and enhance our spiritual connection with the Sun. Embracing these traditions during Surya Grahan can contribute to our overall well-being and energy.
