Far-right conspiracy theorist and a vocal Trump supporter Alex Jones has been scrutinized by a US court to pay nearly $1 Billion in consequence of defaming the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school shooting as a “hoax”. The influencer claimed the shooting at Connecticut was a staged act and all the families were actors, meanwhile 20 children alongside 6 teachers died in the horror. The court awarded the compensation to eight families and the petitioner FBI agent. Jones is also under investigation for the 2019 Capitol attack by Trump supporters.
