The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has served a notice to former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat in connection with the 2016 sting operation. The notice requires Rawat to appear before a CBI court on July 4 and provide a voice sample. The CBI arrived at Rawat’s residence to serve the notice but he was not present. Rawat later informed the CBI of his return home. The notice comes in response to a sting video that emerged in 2016, showing Rawat allegedly negotiating a deal to buy back the support of disgruntled party MLAs.
