Walkie-Talkies of CISF at Mangaluru International Airport Become Thing of the Past

The aviation security group (ASG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Mangaluru International Airport has bid farewell to their traditional walkie-talkies. From July onwards, the ASG personnel at the airport will be equipped with new state-of-the-art communication kits, replacing the old communication devices. These communication kits have been provided by the airport and are connected to the personnel’s walkie-talkies. They fit snugly inside the ear of the ASG personnel, allowing for one-to-one communication between the security operations control centre (SOCC) and the personnel on the field.

One of the key benefits of these communication kits is that they free up the hands of the ASG personnel. Previously, they had to hold the walkie-talkies in their hands, restricting their movement and limiting their ability to respond to emergencies quickly. Now, with the hands-free communication kits, they can use their hands more effectively, especially in emergency situations where they may need to wield a weapon.

Virendra Mohan Joshi, the Senior Commandant and Chief Airport Security Officer, highlighted that the new communication kits ensure that wireless communication is only received by those for whom it is intended. This is crucial in an airport environment with multiple stakeholders, as not all communication is relevant or intended for everyone. By providing these communication kits, the airport aims to improve the operational readiness of the ASG personnel.

The airport has equipped 25 ASG personnel with these state-of-the-art communication kits, emphasizing its commitment to meeting the requirements of the security force. The airport has also previously procured a bullet-resistant vehicle for the ASG personnel, further demonstrating its dedication to airport security.

With the implementation of these advanced communication kits, the Mangaluru International Airport continues to prioritize the safety and security of its staff and passengers. The airport authorities are proactive in adopting measures that enhance security while ensuring effective and efficient communication between the ASG personnel and the control centre. The new communication kits mark another milestone in the airport’s ongoing efforts to maintain a secure environment.
