Four members of a family were allegedly hacked to death in Palladam, Tiruppur district on Sunday. The incident took place when Senthilkumar, a 47-year-old rice shop owner, found a group of people consuming alcohol on his land. Upon asking them to leave, one of the individuals reportedly attacked him with a sickle. Senthilkumar’s family members – Mohanraj, Rathinambal, and Pushpavathi – bravely tried to come to his rescue but ended up being attacked by the gang as well. By the time help arrived, the assailants had fled the scene and the four victims had tragically lost their lives. The police, led by Palladam Deputy Superintendent of Police S. Sowmiya, are currently gathering details about the deceased and the gang. Investigations are underway, including the review of CCTV footage. The police suspect that the gang, led by a person named Kutti alias Venkatesan, was responsible for the murders. Kutti had reportedly worked in Senthilkumar’s rice shop in the past. The police are yet to determine the exact number of individuals in the gang. The hunt for the assailants is ongoing.
