Petrol Pump Operators in Rajasthan to Hold Two-Day Strike, Demand Reduction in Diesel Prices

Petrol pump operators in Rajasthan have announced a two-day strike starting from Wednesday, demanding a reduction in diesel prices. The strike comes in protest against the higher diesel prices in Rajasthan, which leads to a difference in sales compared to other states. Fuel shortages are anticipated during the strike as all petrol pumps in the state will remain closed. The operators are appealing to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan to take action and reduce the price of diesel in order to achieve uniformity in sales.

The strike has already had an impact in some parts of the state, with petrol pumps in Udaipur closing from Tuesday evening itself. In anticipation of possible fuel shortages, people have been filling up their vehicles ahead of the strike. The operators argue that the VAT (Value Added Tax) on diesel in other states is lower, resulting in a higher price in Rajasthan. This disparity in prices affects the sale of diesel in the state.

Rakesh Bhandari, a petrol pump operator, spoke to ANI expressing the reasons for the strike. He stated, “There is a two-day strike from 10:00 to 18:00, and we are appealing to the Chief Minister to reduce the price of diesel as the VAT in other states is less and the price of diesel over here is higher so the price should be reduced to ensure uniformity in sales.” He further added that if their demands are not met, they plan to continue with an indefinite strike after the two-day period.

This strike by petrol pump operators in Rajasthan brings attention to the issue of diesel prices and their impact on sales. It highlights the need for uniformity in prices across states to avoid disparities and maintain consistency in the fuel market. The operators are hopeful that their strike will compel the Chief Minister to address their concerns and take steps towards reducing the diesel prices in Rajasthan.
