Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Tuesday gathered at the historic Central Hall of the old Parliament building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that the old Parliament building be named as ‘Samvidhan Sadan’. He said that the building has seen many historic events and naming it as ‘Samvidhan Sadan’ would be a fitting tribute to the spirit of the Constitution. The proposal found support from several members of Parliament who are in favor of preserving the cultural and architectural significance of the old building. The Central Hall of the old Parliament has witnessed several important events in the country’s history since it was inaugurated on January 18, 1927.
