Central Govt Selling Bharat Atta at Rs 27.5/kg, Bharat Dal at Rs 60/kg: Where to Buy

To control the retail prices of atta and chana dal, the central government has been selling the food items at subsidised rates under the brand name of Bharat Atta and Bharat Dal. Bharat Atta and Dal is currently sold at all physical and mobile outlets of Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED and NCCF and is being expanded to other cooperative and retail outlets. The government has also launched mobile vans for sale of Bharat Atta and Bharat Dal.

Bharat Atta is available at an MRP not exceeding Rs 27.50/kg while Bharat Dal is priced at Rs 60/kg. The central government has allocated 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of wheat at Rs.21.50/kg to semi-government and cooperative organizations for conversion to atta and sale to the public under ‘Bharat Atta’ brand at a price of Rs 27.50/kg. So far, 15337 MT of wheat has been lifted for conversion into atta.

The chana dal stock under the price stabilization fund is being released under the brand name of Bharat Dal through various retail outlets. Till date, 59183 MT of dal has been sold under the Bharat Dal brand. The government has set up a price stabilization fund to check the volatility in the prices of agri-horticultural commodities, with budgetary support of Rs.27,489.15 crore provided since 2014-15.

To control domestic prices, India has already banned exports to ensure sufficient domestic availability. The government has also imposed limits on wheat stock holding by different entities and banned export of non-basmati rice. The Department of Consumer Affairs monitors the daily retail and wholesale prices of essential food commodities.
