IIM-B Places Only 80% in Summer Internships for Now, Rest by December

The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) has faced challenges in completing summer placements this year. Only 80% of the placements were completed within the designated period, with 110 students still in the process of getting placed. The summer placement drive, held from November 9 to 11, managed to place 490 students out of a batch size of 600, making it the largest among all the top IIMs. The internship offers for the remaining students are expected to be completed by the first week of December. Despite external factors such as a tight job market and the proximity to Diwali, the institute remains confident in the capabilities and value of its students in the market. The placement process has now resumed with marquee companies offering high-quality internship offers to the students. However, some industries may adopt a wait-and-watch approach due to the effects of global headwinds on the IT sector. Neeti Sharma, President and Co-founder of Teamlease EdTech Ltd., suggests that firms may prefer to assess their investment options in IIM graduates after a few quarters. The institute acknowledges the need to consider external circumstances while maintaining a robust placement process.
