The turbulent monsoon season has brought paddy deficit of 20 Lack Hectare (nearly 5%) this season, limiting the government to discourage broken and non-basmati rice exports by implying a ban on the former and a 20% duty on the latter. Pulses show a 6LH decline and oilseeds 1LH decline, meanwhile mullets and cotton show an increase of 8LH and 9LH, due to International Millet Year 2023. Previously exported magnanimous amounts of broken-rice is among factors of the current deficit.
