Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister, Imran Khan, has expressed concern over India’s Supreme Court verdict upholding the abrogation of Article 370, which granted a special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Khan, who is currently incarcerated, called the ruling a violation of UNSC resolutions and warned that it would further complicate the Kashmir issue. He vowed to provide diplomatic, moral, and political support to the Kashmiri people. Khan also highlighted that the Kashmir issue has been the main bone of contention between Pakistan and India, and his party strongly reacted to India’s attempts to alter the special status of Kashmir in 2019. Despite his desire to establish good ties with India, Khan stated that it was not possible after August 2019 due to the Kashmiri people’s aspirations.
