    Uncategorized

The Supreme Court has directed the Manipur government to provide a status report on the recovery of arms from all sources. The petitioners in the case have alleged that weapons were looted from the State’s armoury and subsequently used during ethnic violence. The court has also asked the Manipur government to take action on the unclaimed bodies of those killed in the violence, which have been lying in mortuaries for the past four months. Additionally, the Centre and Manipur government have been given three days to coordinate with the Justice Gita Mittal Committee to appoint experts for monitoring rehabilitation efforts in Manipur.
