Sharad Pawar Urges ECI to Disqualify Ajit Pawar and Others
    Uncategorized

The NCP faction led by Sharad Pawar has approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) to disqualify Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister, along with eight other cabinet members and 31 legislators supporting him for engaging in anti-party activities. The Sharad Pawar faction filed a 500-page reply before the ECI, stating that there is no split within the party. Reports indicate that four members of the legislative council are among those against whom the disqualification proceedings have been sought. The NCP faction argues that the actions of Ajit Pawar and his supporters violate the provisions of the Constitution’s 10th Schedule related to anti-party activities. The Assembly speaker, Rahul Narwekar, has also stated that there is no split in the NCP, as no application has been filed before him to declare such a split. The Sharad Pawar faction has responded to Ajit Pawar’s petition before the ECI, presenting a detailed rebuttal to the points raised by him. Sharad Pawar asserts that Ajit Pawar has failed to demonstrate a dispute under the Symbols Order and that the ECI has not made any determination regarding any dispute. Consequently, the Sharad Pawar faction argues that Ajit Pawar’s documents should be rejected. The faction contends that they are not obliged to address the unsubstantiated claims of an unrecognized group of motivated individuals working against the constitution. Furthermore, they argue that Ajit Pawar’s petition is premature and does not provide evidence of the existence of a dispute since he did not raise any grievance or utilize any internal remedy to discuss the issues mentioned in his petition before July 1. Therefore, the Sharad Pawar faction insists that the petition should be rejected. Jayant Patil, the president of the state unit of the NCP led by Sharad Pawar, has stated that if the ECI grants the party name and symbol to Ajit Pawar, his faction will challenge the decision in the Supreme Court.
