Silicon Valley-based AI company Tiger Analytics enters Bihar

A Silicon Valley-based Artificial Intelligence company called Tiger Analytics has made history by becoming the first IT company from the US to enter Bihar. Tiger Analytics, which is headquartered in Santa Clara, recently opened its first office in Patna. The founder and CEO, Mahesh Kumar, expressed hope that this step would lead to future progress. The company currently has around 4,000 employees in India, with most of them based in Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. However, during the COVID-19 crisis, many employees returned to Bihar and started working remotely. Kumar recognized the talent and potential of the workforce in Bihar and decided to establish an office there to provide them with employment opportunities closer to home. The company’s move has received positive responses on social media, indicating the anticipation for Tiger Analytics to grow in Bihar. Kumar aims to encourage more successful entrepreneurs from Bihar in Silicon Valley to come together and contribute to the development of the IT sector in their home state. Sandeep Poundrik, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Industries in Bihar, expressed his optimism that Tiger Analytics’ entry into Bihar would attract more IT companies to invest in the state. However, he acknowledged the challenges in attracting IT investments to Bihar, such as the negative perception of the state and the preference for established IT hubs like Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Poundrik highlighted the efforts made by the government to create infrastructure and develop IT towers in Patna to support the growth of the IT sector. Encouraged by Tiger Analytics’ decision, the Bihar government is planning to organize a Global Investors Summit in Patna, with IT as one of the key priority areas. The summit aims to showcase the opportunities and strengths of Bihar to potential investors, both from India and abroad. This move by Tiger Analytics and the upcoming summit reflect the government’s commitment to promoting the growth of the IT sector in Bihar.
