The teaser of Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s upcoming directorial venture Lal Salaam, starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles, was released by the makers on the occasion of Deepavali. The film, which also features Rajinikanth in a cameo role, is set to release in theatres during the festival of Pongal in January 2024.
The teaser gives a glimpse of a story set in a town high in tension due to religious unrest. It shows Vishnu Vishal playing a local Hindu cricket player and Vikranth playing a Muslim cricket player. The cricket match between the two players turns into a riot, exposing the political game behind it. In the midst of the chaos, superstar Rajinikanth’s character, Moideen Bhai, steps up to take matters into his own hands.
The film also stars Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, and Thangadurai. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Lal Salaam has music by AR Rahman. Notably, legendary cricketer Kapil Dev will also be seen in a cameo role in the film.
Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the elder daughter of Rajinikanth, is known for her previous directorial ventures 3 and Vai Raja Vai. In addition to her work in films, she has also directed a documentary titled ‘Cinema Veeran’ and penned a book titled ‘Standing on An Apple Box: The Story of A Girl Among the Stars’. Earlier this year, she announced her Bollywood directorial debut, ‘Oh Saathi Chal’.
