Officials from British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s team are currently in New Delhi to discuss and negotiate terms for the ongoing India-UK free trade agreement (FTA). The talks, which began in January last year, have been aimed at finalizing the FTA by the end of February. Both countries are entering an election year in 2024, and reaching a trade agreement with India will support Sunak’s electoral strategy. The negotiations have seen substantial progress, with the possibility of a deal before both countries hold their elections.
