Security forces are searching for two Kuwaitis who were kidnapped while on a hunting trip in a desert area in Iraq, according to security officials. The kidnapping took place on Sunday in a desert area between Anbar and Salahuddin provinces. An Iraqi foreign ministry statement referred to one Kuwaiti national and stated that the Iraqi government would determine their fate. The desert region where the incident occurred is a known hiding place for active Islamic State militant groups. Hunters from wealthy Gulf states often make trips to Iraq’s desert regions in search of hawks. The identity of the kidnappers and their motives are not yet known.
