A fortnight after validating the scrapping of special status for Jammu & Kashmir under Article 370, Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud celebrated Christmas with lawyers by singing carols and dedicating them to the soldiers guarding the borders. During the event organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association, the Chief Justice mentioned the soldiers who lost their lives in a recent terrorist attack and emphasized the freezing conditions in which the personnel work in winter to protect the country and its citizens. The Chief Justice also used the occasion to address the protest from the Bar Association regarding a recent decision of the Supreme Court.
