Liquefied Natural Gas Shipments at Risk Due to Red Sea Attacks, says Qatar PM

Liquefied natural gas shipments are at risk due to escalating tensions in the Red Sea, according to Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. He warned that military strikes on Yemen could aggravate the crisis and affect LNG shipments, along with other merchant shipments. Despite the availability of alternative routes, the current detour around southern Africa is less efficient than the key trade route between Asia and European markets. Several LNG vessels operated by Qatar have already been forced to stop en route to the Red Sea. Tensions in the Red Sea, particularly the conflict in Gaza, have global implications as fears mount of further escalation and disruption of global trade.
