Gold Paste Worth Rs 2.9 Crore Seized at KIA, 4 Smugglers Arrested

Two mega gold smuggling attempts were foiled at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru within a span of 48 hours. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) received a tip-off about the attempts to smuggle gold into the city. On January 26, DRI officials intercepted two men who were natives of Tamil Nadu. The men had concealed gold paste, worth Rs 1.2 crore, in their bodies. Similarly, on January 24, a couple arriving from Sharjah was caught with gold paste, weighing 3.2kg and worth Rs 1.7 crore, hidden in their belongings and body. All four smugglers have been arrested and the investigation is ongoing to determine if they were connected and had links to local gangs in Bengaluru.
