An active-duty member of the US Air Force set himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, as an extreme act of protest. The man, identified as Aaron Bushnell, shouted “Free Palestine” as he set himself ablaze. He later died of his injuries. The incident took place during ongoing protests against the war in Gaza. Bushnell had sent a message to media outlets stating his intention to engage in this act of protest against the genocide of the Palestinian people.
