A mechanical engineer, Akash Yadav (27), was arrested from Haryana for creating fake websites of two Andheri hotels and duping customers who made room reservations online. Yadav, who had taken online lessons on developing websites, was apprehended by the Andheri police. The arrest came after two complaints were received from hotels in Andheri where customers had made payments on fake websites. Yadav was found to be involved in creating both fake websites. Cyber experts have warned citizens to be vigilant while making online payments for hotel bookings, advising them to thoroughly research the property and scrutinize the domain name and website design. The police are investigating if Yadav has been involved in similar fraudulent activities with other establishments.
