Muslim Conference Factions in Jammu and Kashmir Declared Unlawful Associations
    Uncategorized

The Centre on Wednesday declared two separate factions of Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir, led by Haji Ghulam Nabi Sumji and Masrat Alam Bhat, as ‘unlawful associations’. These factions have been engaging in activities that threaten the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. They have been found to have links with banned terror outfits and have supported terrorism in J&K. The leaders and cadres of these outfits have been involved in creating disaffection against India and have received funds from Pakistan and its proxies to carry out terrorist activities in J&K.

The Centre’s decision to ban these factions comes as a step towards curbing their anti-national activities. The Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction) and Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Bhat faction) have been advocating for the secession of J&K from the Union of India and propagating a false narrative among the people of J&K.

The government has invoked the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, to impose a five-year ban on these two outfits. The ban is aimed at preventing them from further engaging in activities that threaten national security. Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the government is determined to uproot terrorism and ensure dire consequences for anyone involved in unlawful activities.

The notifications issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs cite several reasons for banning these factions. These include their linkages with banned terror outfits, support to terrorism, involvement in creating disaffection against India, and raising funds from Pakistan for terrorist activities in J&K. The members of these outfits have also shown disrespect towards the Constitutional setup and have repeatedly called for the boycott of elections in J&K.

The Centre’s decision to ban these factions will have immediate effect and will curtail their ability to carry out anti-national activities. The government aims to prevent the spread of false narratives and anti-national sentiments among the people of J&K. It is committed to ensuring the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
