Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Trinamool Congress’ (TMC) decision to nominate cricketer Yusuf Pathan as the party’s candidate for the Behrampore constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chowdhury, who has been representing the Lok Sabha seat since 1999, is expected to contest the seat for the sixth time. The TMC’s surprise choice has raised eyebrows, with Chowdhury suggesting that Pathan could have been nominated to the Rajya Sabha instead. Pathan, a retired cricketer from Vadodara, expressed his gratitude to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee for trusting him with the responsibility to become the people’s voice in Parliament.
