Suspended BSP MP Danish Ali and former Bihar MP Pappu Yadav joined Congress on Wednesday, signaling a growing mood for the party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Danish Ali, who hails from Amroha, stated that he took this decision to fight against divisive forces in the country. Pappu Yadav merged his outfit Janadhikar Party with Congress, while Jai Prakash Patel, the BJP whip in the Jharkhand assembly, also joined Congress. The opposition party sees these inductions as a positive development.

Congress incharge of UP, Avinash Pande, expressed that Ali’s entry will strengthen the party in the state. Ali is a frontrunner for the Congress ticket from his constituency in the western region of UP. Additionally, Assam MP Abdul Khaleque withdrew his resignation after resolving his issues with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge. His grievances were addressed by the party leadership, and he will now work towards strengthening Congress.

Jai Prakash Patel, a three-term MLA, stated that he joined Congress for the betterment of Jharkhand. AICC state incharge Ghulam Ahmed Mir sees this as an indicator of things to come in the state. During the induction ceremony, legislature party leader Alamgir Alam and state Congress chief Rajesh Thakur also joined.

Former RJD leader and MP Pappu Yadav met Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav in Patna before merging his party with Congress. With his wife being a Congress MP in Rajya Sabha, Pappu Yadav expressed his dedication to strengthen the party in Bihar. He was accompanied by Congress legislature party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan and AICC state incharge Mohan Prakash.
