Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif revealed that he was ousted from the government in 1999 for opposing the Kargil misadventure led by late General Pervez Musharraf. Sharif questioned why he was prematurely removed from the office of the Prime Minister on three occasions. During his tenure, two Indian Prime Ministers, Modi and Vajpayee, visited Pakistan, highlighting the importance of improved relations with India and neighboring countries. Sharif stressed the need to strengthen relations with China, Afghanistan, and Iran. He criticized the economic growth development in Pakistan, lagging behind its neighbors. Sharif also criticized Imran Khan, stating his incompetence in leading the country. He demanded accountability of former military generals and judges who caused his government’s downfall in 2017. Sharif expressed his intention to bring them to justice. Finally, Sharif is actively engaging in awarding party tickets for the upcoming general elections on February 8, 2022.
